Second Hand Fashion Styling
Fashion for me is a form of art. I have many different personalities which are reflected through my many different looks. I dress according to mood and feelings which is either no fuss, boyish, sporty and eclectic or ultra feminine and glam. I especially love balancing masculine with the feminine and now that I’m in my 30’s, I almost always gravitate towards black.
I don’t follow trends-I follow what looks good and flatters my body. I find my go-to brands and stick to them season after season. Anything I buy must have versatility, longevity and be of the highest quality-which is why I stick to my 50 % vintage and 50 % contemporary method. If I fall victim to fast fashion (ie. Zara, Mango & H&M), it’s because I need to fill in a gap and complete an outfit that I’ve dreamt of in my head. Most of the time, that one item lives in my closet for years because of its versatility and if I eventually outgrow it, off to Plato’s closet or depop it goes!
When I’m lusting over a piece that has a hefty price tag, I’ll go straight to depop and relentlessly hunt for it until it’s found. Buying designer pieces second hand is a life hack for anyone that’s willing to resist impulses and remain patient for the right price. Unless you have the funds to buy whatever material item you desire-just know that most of the time, that one piece you can’t stop thinking about can eventually be found on depop! :) Why not save money where you can. Fashion can wait-there are far more important things to waste your energetic and financial currency on.
Nevertheless, I felt compelled to share all my favorite depop finds and my current Ssense wishlist (which I don’t care to own anytime soon but it’s nice to dream and imagine what I would wear as the highest version of myself) :)
Happy second-hand shopping!
